“I like your magazine because the title is quite catchy and has an easy title and it rolls of the tongue nice! I think you could include more info down the left hand side to improve it but overall I would probably read it or pick up a copy.”

“I like it! I like your use of college and the splash of red and I love the way college magazine overlaps its different!”

“I like your magazine but I do not think I would read it as it seems to be aimed at girls, I don’t think I would be interested in reading it, but I like the layout of your magazine and I also think the name is very original.”

This feedback will help be to improve my magazine if needed, it also helps me in which of my magazine are the good parts, which I could put more of into my magazine.

Media College Magazine – Evaluation

My magazine has the usual forms of a magazine; it shows all of the characteristics a magazine such as the left third, an issue number, the date and the mast head. My magazine doesn’t really challenge forms of a conventional magazine, it is the basic layout of a magazine that it would usually be. I have used a kicker such as the ‘2011 Art Exhibition’ this would get the readers attention because it the biggest writing other than the masthead compared to the rest of the writing on the front page. I also used teasers such as ‘Where do I go after Wyke?’ this shows that the magazine is not only for first years, but also second years as well, the would be able to read the magazine and get help on maybe applying to university, the fees of university etc. The person on the front of my magazine was deliberately working, the lighting is not too dark for the camera so it was easy to get a good photo for my magazine, I also had her looking at the camera like existing magazine do but also so she was engaging the reader by looking straight at them.

My magazine represents particular social groups, as the person in my picture on the front cover is wearing certain clothes, it would be aimed at the certain people who would fit into this group of people, my magazine isn’t really aimed at teachers to read, its aimed at the students as all of the information that would go into my magazine would interest students more than the teachers. The stories on the front show that my magazine is aimed at the teachers because they all involve things that only the students would take part in.

The audience would be the students at Wyke college, I think my magazine does this by the stories that are shown on the front cover, they would interest students that come to this college as they are about things going on in the college, also the person on my front cover give the impression that the magazine is aimed at the students because there is a student working on the front of my magazine. I did not aim my magazine to be at females but my feedback said that they thought it was a feminine magazine and most of the males that I asked about my magazine said that they wouldn’t read it because the person on the front may be giving the wrong impression of the magazine.

While constructing my magazine, I used Photoshop. I became more aware of what I could do on Photoshop so I was able to do more things to my magazine, I learnt a lot more skills as I was going along doing my magazine and because of this I now feel more confidant in using it. I used some basic skills to complete my magazine, and I also did more complex things to make my magazine better. Also, I used an online blog which I was able to use the features of this and learn how to upload pictures, make a new post and also follow other people on my blog, I also used Prezi, this is an online presentation which I was able to use which I would put on all of my ideas, my drafts and my research all in one place so I was able to see all of my idea, this allowed me to insert text/shapes/pictures form my files and put them onto my presentation.

Here I typed in the word 'FREE' into the flash to make the words 'FREE' stand out to the reader.

 Here I typed in the last story onto the front of the magazine, then  my magazine was finished.

I used this website to get the colour scheme of my magazine, this would make sure all tof the colours went together.
